Scrapping from a slightly Different Point of View

Hi - First off I buy scrap metal for the purpose of turning it into Metal Sculpture. I found this forum when I was trying to locate a source of material for my projects. Currently I have a few sources but they are limited and usually pricey. Also their inventory does not change very often. I am hoping that I will fit in with this community and that I will be able to contribute as well as receive information that helps others in the community.

Welcome, from North Carolina, I am sure that some of the people on here would be happy to work with you in selling you metal for you to work with for scrap price or slightly above scrap price. Let us know where you are from, post up some pics of your work and some of the things you are looking for.

What sort of sculptures do you make?

Always interesting, from (ugh)steampunk to garden sculptures and jewelery.
Im saving up gas bottles and fridge compressors and driveshafts to make replica cannons..

Sorta thinking about making 'metal men hobos' as garden sculptures, maybe moving parts driven by windmill power.

Check out the buyers and sellers section. It's not hard to get a buyer page (I have one). Throw a list of what you're looking for on there and we'll check it out.

I have updated my profile to show that I am located in in Arbutus Maryland, just outside of Baltimore. Photos of some of my work are on my webpage AnothersideofSane.com

Really appreciate all the feedback - Think I have found a good reference here on this site and hopefully some good aquaintances also.

Really nice work. I especially like the praying mantis and the horse sculpture. How much do you charge for something like that? I would be interested in purchasing something like that in the near future, and I'm sure there are a couple folks on here that would do the same. Best of luck and keep us up to date on your progress.

I suggest becoming a member an starting a buyers thread. list specific things you buy and some idea of what kinds of things you might be interested in, but don't know it yet. Also how far you may be willing to travel.
Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.

Thanks for all the feedback. I got started with sculpture when my son-in-law got me a welder and said play with it and you'll learn. First thing I created I called Man With Hole in Head for Thinking He can Weld but the wife renamed it to Man With Vision and said she could sell the piece easily. And so a hobby was born. The horse was sold for 250 and the praying mantis, which my wife does not want me to sell, is priced at 900. I make creations mainly for myself because I enjoy it but am always willing to create on request or sell some of my creations.
