    Smile Hello everyone

I live in Northwest Indiana. I joined this forum to see who (a friend of mine) or me makes money first from scrapping. My friend scraps for the gold content ONLY. He watched some you tube videos on how to take the gold from electronics and add chemicals to strip out just the gold flakes so he can sell them. I don't know how he plans to sell gold "flakes" and to whom. He might do some things to change the flakes to liquid then to a solid. I'll have to keep you all updated on how that's working for him, lol ! I, on the other hand, plan on stripping out electric components, researching buyers, prices, and then selling. Can anyone help me out, (a new gal) here and tell me of any buyers that pay for shipping to them? Thank you

I don't think anyone pays for shipping but at least one or more have a discounted rate on shipping.
As far as refining goes, if he just watched youtube videos then you might be going to his funeral.
#1 - It's very dangerous if not done correctly (including proper ventilation) and #2- The pro's will tell you that someone just starting out will lose almost 50% of their gold cause they don't have their technique figured out yet.

The best way to get Gold out of escrap is to......

Save it up, prep it correctly, send it cheaply to a well known, well paying escrap buyer.
    Get your money.
Go to a place that sells Gold bars or coins and buy them.

I have looked into it, have even got Gold flakes and powder.. But nobody to sell it too..
It took a long long time, a lot of work, rusted out every metal in sight, stunk the place out, cost lots in HCl acid..
    For no $$ return.
Just being able to say "I CAN do it, but its not worth my time". And knowing that I can do it is another string to my bow.
But, if I want $ from escrap, save, store, count, prepare, sort, pack, send, cash check or get ca$h in hand.

dITTO, dITTO, dITTO. i AM A HOME REFINER!!!!! YOU TUBE ONLY TEACHES YOU ENOUGH TO GET YOU KILLED, ALONG WITH YOUR WIFE, YOUR KIDS, YOUR PETS, AND PROBABLY YOUR NEIGHBORS. THESE POSTS BELONG ON the GOLD FORUM.

That said , welcome to the forum. There are professional scrappers here some not so professional, some just starting out like your self, and a some just plain idiots.

Related info: Back during the gold last gold rush days in Cal, and Alaska. Many miners/prospectors were found dead in their cabins and tents. For many years it was thought these folks died of heart attacks or exposure. In recent years it was discovered many of them died of Mercury vapor, acid vapor poisoning trying to refine their gold. Example: there are 2 (un named) comon auto liquids that many times sit in the same shelf in your garage, should these 2 bottles or cans spill, when they reach a certain mixture % they will explode and burn your house down. Think Meth lab, refining gold is MORE toxic and MORE DEADLY. Not Just my .02, FACT.

Welcome to the forum , a quick trip to the scrap buyers and sellers section will give you a good idea on what prices are fair for your items . I suggest a local buyer you can eliminate or ship at a discount . Good luck !
