    Hello from Canada, eh

Hello to all, my name is Randy, long time reader here (couple months anyway), first time posting.
I've been working in residential new construction for over 10 years, and I've been scrapping just as long. I started out by collecting the scrap copper that electricians and plumbers don't bother to pick up, it's amazing how much some of them leave behind. One electrician told me "I won't bend down to pick up a piece of scrap worth less than $20".
A couple years ago I expanded to anything metal... I even put my tin cans in my scrap pile. I've gone from $200-$300 per year to $2000-$3000 per year, not bad for a hobby. I found the forum here when I started to research electronics recycling. I had heard of people doing it, so I figured there must be value in it. The posts I read here convinced me to take the leap, and I've collected about 40 computers and a couple dozen TVs since, as well as a bunch of other random electronics. Got a couple great deals, but that's a story for another time, I've been rambling long enough.
Thanks to all who have posted great advice here, and I look forward to learning more, maybe even have something to contribute myself.
    Randy

Welcome and glad your enjoying the forum. Check out our buyer/seller section and check out the prices on escrap and boards. TV, stereo, etc boards (brown) are not worth shipping so you might have to find a yard locally to buy them.

Welcome to the forum. Much of what you have read or will read on the forum with become very clear once you start breaking down the electronics. I broke down everything to the smallest bit and now I backed off on some to a more resonable degree. You will find the same once you have the experience. The more you read the more profit you will be able to get and more opportunities you will recognize. Best of luck, Mike

Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked
