    Noob Scapper

Hello everyone, before anything I'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year

So i recently lost my job 3 weeks before Christmas, and I've been trying to find new ways to come up with some cash. I've always been interested in scrapping but never really put thought into it until i lost my job. Been dumpster diving a couple times and I've already found some goodies. A couple computers and a couple boxes filled with old PCB boards, I'll be happy to post pics if anyone's interested.

Welcome and do some reading in our electronic section before getting rid of the computer related stuff, there's money to be made if you do it right. As far as electronic scrap goes, it take a little volume. We have a breakdown section on quite a few different things.

Welcome to the forum. If I were you I would find who the dumpster belongs to and talk to them. If it sits behind a business and they are the ones throwing the stuff away, they may have more that they might give you.

Good thinking, i might take a drive down by that area again and see if they threw anything else out. Too many businesses in the area, a lot of folks use the same dumpster, but ill try to see where it came from.

Some more advice you might find helpful. Dumpsters are something I'm involved in big time. As a manager of large properties and many dumpsters. Be aware of your dumpster contents, stay out of any with medical waste, those with bad smells. Both the chemical smelly ones and the type that cause gagging reactions. These trust me are not worth it as they can contain bio hazards for yourself and others you may contaminate. Glass and other sharp penetrating objects are almost always in dumpsters, so dive with assumed risk. I personally don't mind a "thinking dumpster diver" and I despise those that don't. All businesses are concerned about LIABILITY, so if a property owner ask you to stay out of their dumpsters, hint do just that! Happy dumpster diving to you DUDE.
