prices are bad - found your forum while searching for info

Figured I would sign up, gain some knowledge and contacts. Started scrapping part time by accident while helping an old lady remove flower bed gaurds ( railings ) lol. Turned it into a full time business in 2012. I primarly do residential but i have a couple commercial contacts that call periodically.... last winter prices were up for me in detroit metro area....this winter not so much. After doing some reading on your forum I see alot of people are going to start saving up which is what i was thinking, not going to be a fun task though with steel lol. Im hoping this market changes within a month or im going to be broke. Sooooo.... thats my story and i have no choice but to stick with it.

Welcome to the forum . I understand and agree . Plastic and low grade boards are the new steel . Imho I would rather steel become worthless and have .99c gas . But everyone is diffrent . I just know at the end of everyday I spend more on gas then I make on steel . Day in day out . Just all about how you look at it . Plenty of great knowledge on the forum . Hope it continues to serve you well.

    Thanks for joining btw

Welcome. Yeah the times they are changing.
But it good exercise for the brain. Get more information and you can be more creative. So your in the right place now. Dig into the old threads. Got some pretty savy people here.

And we got a few that just like to post things just to increase their status on here.( my rant for today) , .
    Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome. I have not ventured into any kind of scrap outside of metal related items. Low grade boards for me do not pay a whole lot, or maybe i just do not know where to turn them in. Also i did not realize there was a market for plastic, how does pricing work with that?
