I'm not sure if that's sarcasm about robbery and murder, but in case you don't know, THEY ARE AS ILLEGAL AS GUNS HERE IN THE GREAT WHITE NORTH! Where I am now forced to add, we have far less per capita of both than many areas of the US. I can't say why that is for sure, but I have ideas why.
Well, if murder and robbery are illegal, and it still occurs, who commits the murders and robberies? Does anyone obey the law in Canada?... or is it just criminals who disobey the law? Any chance it would be the same people who commit murder and robberies who would not obey the law to turn in their guns? How do the people who have obeyed the law and turned in their guns protect themselves from those who don't?

If you cannot fire a gun without "spraying bullets into the air and hitting everything," perhaps you should not have guns... At least without some guidance from someone familiar with the operation of firearms.

I'm going with "agree to disagree" on this one. There is no law to turn in guns because your not allowed to have them. Criminals will always find ways and new ways to get what they want, illegal or not, that's what makes them criminals. If you fire your rifle, whatever kind, once, and hit the target, that's skill. Holding the trigger and using multiple bullets and only hit the target half the time, I consider that asking for collateral damage. That's what video games are for.

To sum it up, two countries with two different opinions. Still glad we can get along though..

I guess this is why, when we travel abroad, we Canucks are known to be peace love rock and roll

Its not just Canadian subjects that believe in peace. Look at the Stats on this issue and see where the US sits on the # of murders per capita. We're not even in the top 100.

Junkfreak - Your statement created interest. This information is being provided, not to offend but to demonstrate some interesting statistics. According to Wikipedia, the U.S. has the 91 highest murder rate per capita in the world. Even more interesting was Canada was 89 on the list with a slightly higher number. Now things get real interesting, the top 56 countries on the list were in Africa. So a quick search of homicide types in South Africa was done. In 2007 it had 83,000 homicides. Of those only 8,319 were by firearm. Wish I had time to research further, but this proves to me I live in the right place at the right time.

We’re more peaceful: This year, Canada was ranked the eighth most peaceful country in the world. The U.S is ranked 100th.
    99 reasons why it

Also look at number 81 and 85 and 86 on the list

This is just conversation, not intended to offend anyone.

I stand corrected. Info said 111, not sure what year tho. Still looks like banning guns does nothing as far as violence goes .

But where do England, France, Germany rank on that list?

I've been avoiding asking this, but, where do the black market guns in Canada come from?

They're not banned, just not as readily available. Except semi and fully automatic, those are military/SWAT only, so far as I know.

AA - (short for ammo anonymous) Just had to add to the humor.

This is the web site the information was quoted from: List of countries by intentional homicide rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The UK is 176, France 194, and Germany 195. It is interesting, the list is almost in order by geographic location. Africa is together, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, North America, etc.

As far as where your black market guns are coming from I'll go out on a limb and say "criminals." Not from one country, but the world market.

By the way, your beer is great. I have made many fishing trips and love the beer. Problem is the price you have to pay. At the web site 91 reasons, referenced above it was noted that Canada had a slightly lower alcohol consumption rate than the U.S. Shall we start a thread about the affect higher taxes has on consumption. Just kidding, but I think if we did the research on alcohol consumption by capita, it will be by geographic location just as the homicide chart was.

Sorry when I asked that I had already checked and knew where UK, France and Germany were. I was just trying to make the point that other industrialized nations with similar laws to Canada were far lower on the list, or higher in number.

And I'll drink any beer, just about. Haven't found one I didn't like, unless there's fruit added to it. FREE still has to be my fave brand.

Edit: Just found this, it says that 1/2 of black market guns in Canada come from...Mericans!

I hear that, the other day I had a beer from Beau's brewery, Vankleek Hill, yet another local microbrewery, it had coffee added to it!
If I want coffee, I'll have a coffee!
