    Intro - hello!

Hello everyone! I'm new to this whole business although I've been around the junk yard and pick-a-part many times. I'm so glad I can read up on things here so I don't have to scour the web trying to figure things out! I'm working full time and scrapping part time and the scrapping/recycling is quickly turning into something I enjoy doing - its not easy money but I can work for a couple hours & make some extra money.

I really appreciate the resources this forum provides!

I'm born & raised in Indiana, but loving it down here in NC - they can call me yankee all they want down here! I guess I have to put up some posts before I can become friends or PM anyone?

Welcome and thank you for posting a proper introduction, a rarity lately. I nominate yours for a sticky. There is a lot of info here on just about anything related to scrap. Sound like you may be a car guy if you have been to junk yards and pick a parts places. There is a big section here on scrapping cars you may be interested in.

Welcome to the forum. I'm also a transplant from northern Indiana to coastal NC. First people from Indiana are not Yankees they are from the north.

According to Southerners I know there is a difference between a Yankee and a ****ed Yankee. A Yankee is a person from the north who comes for a visit, a ****ed Yankee is one who does not go home. Mike

Good stuff, Miked! I lived in FL for a while too so Ive heard a ton of Yankee jokes.

I'm wondering if there are any dedicated threads for safety issues and hazardous things to avoid. I read someone mention a "free air" issue & I've never heard of that. I feel like that's where I need to dig in the most, because I know very little about the hazards out there - just being honest & trying to do this responsibly!
