    Just need a little advice

    Hello,

I am a teacher in Fort Worth, Texas. I have been repairing computers and TVs for many years, and as a result about half my garage is full of computer parts, monitors, printers, TVs, etc.

I'm looking for the best way to go about selling/recycling the things that are not repairable or are too old to sell on ebay. For example, I have at least 20 or 30 old IDE hard drives that are dead and not worth repairing, another 25 monitors, a couple of big TVs, lots of old memory sticks, a bunch of old motherboards, several old laptops, several printers, and a lot of other miscellaneous computer parts.

Should I dismantle everything and separate the parts? How and where is the best place to sell the scrap? It seems that the only place I found online (cash for computer parts) has a bad reputation.

I know there are plenty of local people advertising to pick up stuff for free, but I would like to make a few bucks on this stuff. Just not real sure how to go about it. Spring break is coming up and I will have time to go through everything. Mainly because my wife wants to be able to put her car in the garage and open the door without bumping into a broken TV.

Any advice/guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

dito dito dito, that said, yes read a little and find out how to seperate e scrap. we have buyers here one of who's name sounds like the national ripoff guys but he is not, buyers here are straight or they are drummed out of the core very quickly.

Don't waste a lot of time on the crts or tv tubes they are the baine of our business, just get rid of them as cheep and safely as possible.

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

Remember, Cash for Computer Scrap and Cash for Computer Parts are NOT the same company. Read some of the Buyer's Threads- a lot of them will be brimming full of happy reviews.

As for the TVs and monitors, those likely won't have much, if any, value. I don't take them, because of the liability involved. Some yards may, though, and some cities may offer electronics recycling.

If not, wait for the spring collection events. Some of them will take monitors.
