    Ready!

Whats up forum. Unemployed father of 2 after losing my gig. Figured instead of searching for new one gonna find some ways to make some money on my own. While digging scrapping came up. Have Truck, storage space, grinder, magnet and the stubbornness to get this thing. What I don't have is the experience and knowledge in the trade. Site is on the money. Look forward to sharing and collecting insight with ya. Lets scrap...metal.

Welcome to the forum from the Dakota's. Your desire to succeed is greatly respected, but without a game plan, determination, motivation, and knowledge it will be a tough road to hoe. This site can help with the knowledge and game plan, but the rest is up to you. Best guess is you are the "Little Train that Could." Good luck and do not underestimate the value of your family in this endeavor.

My advice is to find another gig, at least part time as you explore this and your other options. The percentage that succeed at this full time is low and the learning curve is high. At the same time you will never know until you try. Good luck.

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

I agree with Patriot. The market is down, so I'd get another part-time job. It's nice to know that there's something that'll always come.

Other than that, keep your expenses (And purchasing prices) low, and turn and burn as much as you can.

If you get into computers, farm equipment, or other usable stuff, make sure to sell what you can for more than scrap value.

Other than that, spend as much time as you can reading the archives here. There is a ton of knowledge!

It don't matter what job(s) you get just keep the babies fed and safe. Best of luck with all you do and keep reading the old threads they will make you money. Mike

The REAL money and fame is in the more then scrap value and that stuff is hidden all over the place. You just have to know how to find it.

What do I suggest is the best way to find the lost and hidden treasures?

Honest word of mouth and getting to know the "right people" that won't waste your time, energy and funds.

I wish I knew some of the folks around here much better as I turn down more jobs the I take on these days.

I wish you the best. I don't believe in luck. Luck is simply where preparation and opportunity meet. I have been self-employed nearly my entire life. I have had some tough times but would rather make my own way.

    Here are a few ideas:

Scrapping will always get you a little extra money, right now the little is the problem.

Clean Outs can earn you some money and you have a truck so why not use it.

Learn how to sell the stuff you acquire for more than scrap, eBay, Etsy, Amazon, Craigslist, or any other way.

Don't get tied to any one thing to hard, specialize but not to the point you starve or sit idle.

If there is anything I do to help please by all means PM me.

First off thanks as its already some good info in here. I have some other ideas also for steady income also self owned. I was retail management so if things aren't working I'd be able to find employment pretty quick. I just dont think I will have to tho. Too many individuals I encounter are very lazy and undisciplined now more then ever. l've been successful in my jobs because my relentlessness to get the job done and to win. Now I have 2 kids under 2 and desire to win is more then ever. And im learning more and more each old post I read.
