    Good Morning Vietnam!

Though I've lurked quietly in the shadows of this treasure trove of information the past few weeks, I thought it was high time to at least say something.

My name is Ryan, and I'm a new junk metal addict.

Haha! Seriously though - I just wanted to say thanks for all the advice and knowledge I've soaked up so far, it's such a great resource. I have my second load of scrap ready to haul to the yard today, and tomorrow will be gaining unrestricted access to my grandfather's 14' trailer.

Now I just need to line up some stuff to fill that trailer! That's the fun part, right?

Anyway, I look forward to talking with everyone. Best of luck today, scrappers!

Welcome, Ryan. Let us know how it goes having a trailer. What were in the first two loads?
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

    Thanks!

@Mick - First two loads were a mixture of what I pulled out of a barn....20lbs or so of #1 copper, 40-50lbs of insulated wire, 500lbs of steel and 100 or so lbs total of aluminum (some cast). It really wasn't hard work...maybe a total of a few hours? So the payout was absolutely worth the time AND a bonus benefit of a good workout...which I could surely use, lol.

I know I don't have to explain the sense of accomplishment and excitement to an experienced scrapper such as yourself, but boy I'll tell ya - the feeling of taking in a load of junk and walking out with green cash in my hand is a VERY outstanding feeling!

Welcome. I'll tell you what, it sure is a workout. I don't think I have any fat left on me anymore.

I remember the first load... Just looked up the ticket from three years ago - 16# of Alum rims, 22# of alum radiators and 150# of alum sheet. Got $129. All I could do was think "I got $129 for this JUNK?". Told the lady "THANK YOU" several times and on the way home started thinking how to get more junk. And it took off from there.
