Bumping this thread for two reasons. First the threads Mechanic688 posted are valuable to new members as well as older members. Second because all three names mentioned belong in the SMF Hall of Fame in my opinion. We lost Mechanic688 and his wife wrote the forum to let us know. He was an excellent moderator and always provided links new members could read to answer their questions. Many of us just tell new members to read the old threads and he told them what threads to read. MikeD has been a cornerstone on the forum, offering his expertise, insight, and knowledge to new and veteran members alike. His perspective on escrap and life in general has been an asset to many members. Gustavus was a story teller who used scrap to make equipment he used in his scrapping adventures. He was very knowledgeable about scrap and many other subjects as well. Before he disappeared from the forum he was building a kaleidoscope from scrap and sharing it here.

Do not hesitate to read their old threads, they are entertaining and informative.
