I am new to scrap metal recycling and was excited to find the site. I look forward to reading all your stories and learning from your experiences. I live in Raleigh, NC, and started a side hauling business a few months ago in order to help pay bills. The other day, I looked at the load I was taking to the dump, which included old CRT TVs, gas grills, brass fireplace enclosures, etc, and I said "I could be getting paid for all this stuff that I am already being paid for hauling away." The realization that I could be supplementing my income from my side business fascinated me, so here I am, trying to learn the difference between #1 and #2 copper, 304 and 316 stainless steel, and the best (for a good price) scale to buy.
