My name is Robert A. Rice and I live in Lake City, FL.



I use to scrap with a friend about 25 years ago. Now I'm going to try to start again with my 16 year old grandson. I plan on relearning everything while teaching my grandson the same. We will earn money while giving him knowledge that he can always use or fall back on, even if he decides to take a different career path when he is grown.

We will be starting with just my old pick-up truck. So my plan is to put all profit into expenses and obtaining needed equipment and materials before we take any for ourselves.

Scrap Metal Forum looks like the best place to start relearning the trade.

Thank you mikeinreco. I didn't realize that the market is so low right now. I'll take it as it comes and concentrate more on learning and making contacts for know. Fortunately my livelihood is not dependent on it.

Hey, welcome aboard!! Enjoy your time with your g-son!! I've seen some interesting curbco pick-up runs out of FL but I think more south of you in central and more southern FL, the more transitory part of the state. Hope you find some good stuff.

You all do grow and cut a lot of pine in your part of the state. Its interesting to watch the pattens over time from space !!
