Welcome to the forum. The short answer is read the old threads. What you will learn is the answer to questions you didn't know you should have had.

Keep reading, collect some stuff, break down some stuff to see what's inside. Keep reading.

Note prices have gone down alot so be mindful of that when you are reading.

Find a niche that you fit in and make some money. Oh yes you should keep reading. Mike.

Thanks Mike... yeah I've got motherboards, and pulled cards that I'm looking at while watching youtube videos... still trying to match parts and pieces ... seems like there's a lot of non-clarified parts left over that videos don't talk about what to do with or even if they should be saved... but I'm only a few days into it all... so it all good

Yes and many of the videos are bs only looking for hits not accuracy. You will begin to recognize which are bs and incomplete or even unsafe.

The answers are really in the old threads in the forum. Notice at the bottom of each thread there are recommended related threads. You will find yourself going from one thread to another and picking up information along the way. Truly you don't know what you don't know. Mike

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

    Greetings from Wyoming!

On computers, don't forget more than scrap value parts. We have a lot of buyers here for CPUs, RAM, Hard Drives, and other things. Once you know what the parts are, I'd start talking with more than scrap value buyers on here. We'll gladly help you to maximize that side of recycling.

Thanks Matador... that's good info to know early on. Do the component buyers purchase them as-is? Just wondering because I have no way of knowing if disk drives, ram, etc. is in working order on a lot of these systems I'm picking up. Thanks for your help.

I can't speak for other buyers, but here's what I do:

Parts that come in are tested. The ones that pass are paid at the rate listed on my buyer's thread. The ones that fail testing are paid out at a scrap rate (Also listed in my thread). So, even if everything fails, you're pretty much in the same boat as you would be if you sent them in as scrap. So, whatever passes is the extra "icing on the cake", if you will. That's a pretty common practice- most buyers here have a similar process.
