    Cool Back in the Game!

    Hey everyone! I'm new to SMF, but have been lurking here off and on for the past few years for the wealth of information you guys have. You guys are great!

    I've been scrapping here and there for the past few years, doing e-scrap and some regular metal scrapping. Was a great side-gig through my last few years of college a couple years back. I love older electronic equipment and spend most of my free time hitting yard sales, thrift stores and estate sales, finding all kinds of oddities to pick up and flip on ebay, where I've been making a tidy profit since high school. I love 70's and 80's boomboxes especially, so if anyone has one tucked in their garage collecting dust, you know who to call!

    Looking forward to learning more and more and contributing a bit myself!

    Would you have a Sanyo M98192k (?) boombox?
    Its got two side speaker boxs with two cones in each box (only the top one actualy works) and a centre unit with one subwoofer and single tapedeck and radio in it.



    wow, that pic actually worked for me. Mine was black, actually purple/black.

    eesakiwi, I'm gonna PM you about that boombox right now!

    EDIT: Can't figure out how to PM, haha. Are you sure that's the correct model number? I'm having trouble finding any info on this particular model. Any other info you might have would be great!

    Yep, its a M9818 or M-9818

    Theres other model numbers but I think the one I had was M9818-2k
    The '2K' is probably a NZ submodel. Also differet colours have a different ending, so 2 or K might mean the colour. Deep Purple ,\m/

    I'm not sure where I got the '9' rather than the '8' from but it was in the 80's....

    The bottom outside speakers were just cones, no magnet etc, this is what they ment by 'passive' speaker.
    I see the Chinese have put out a copy of them with USB. I do not know what the rest of the quality is like, even if the speakers detach.

    I think I paid about two full weeks wages for it back then, 1986.
    NZ$300+ and that was a 'special price'. So probably NZ$400 retail.
