Hi, I live in Greensburg, PA, and looking to make a little extra cash scrapping metal. I'm laid off with a 5 month old baby and need to supplement my income until winter is through. I work in the heavy highway construction field and won't start back until march, so any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to the forum from Maryland . A lot of good information and people here on this site . Use the search bar to learn more about items that can be scrapped and their contents . Best of luck !
P.s. If your using formula , be sure to read the ingredients . Almost all enfomil and gerber products contain g.m.o.'s .

Welcome to SMF from the Dakota's. You are entering into the profession during the worst time of the year and the worst market in the last two years. The only chance you have is the search bar in the upper right hand corner of this page. A five month old baby to support adds additional challenges. Personally I admire your desire to enter into scrap for income, but you might want to look into snow removal as well as you learn the tricks of the trade. Good luck with your decisions.

I agree with Patriot- if you have a pickup truck, turn that thing into a money machine however you can. My father plowed snow ages ago with an old Jeep J20- he made more off that than anything else. I deliver straw with my old Dodge. If you can, snowplowing would be a great idea.
Make money plowing, and throw whatever you find at the curbside in the bed....

Welcome. You have gotten some great ideas. Let add a little more. Look in to reselling of usable items. Much has been written on the forum about this subject so just read, read read the old threads. Mike

Welcome from Australia. Tough times for you but you sound determined. Another piece of advice to add to the others: look for resale wherever possible rather than just scrap. Also if you are crafty try to up cycle old stuff to sell on eg. I turn curved metal casings into book stops and boxes. All the best.
