    Howdy and Merry Christmas

    I will admit,I am a newbie to junking,watched many do it and passed on many chances to score because I figured it was not worth the time.Well things have changed,money is money especially if it is FREE money and I am finding out this is really fun and at times exciting when you find some things.I have a small collection of wire,boards,some metal.I am gonna collect a bunch it before I run it in.Next I need to figure out the drive in part to make that money.


    Can someone explain to me the process of going to the scrap yard across the scale?..I noticed there is another area where people unload their cans at,did the have to drive cross the scale first? Sorry for the dumb question but I am new..

    Welcome to SMF from the Buffalo Commons and Merry Christmas. At some yards, not all if you have non ferrous metal you go directly to that area and materials will be weighed on a floor scale. Ferrous metals are weighed on the truck scale. Some yards require you to weigh on the truck scale regardless and compare weights between the two scales for non ferrous. Each yard is different.     Welcome and Patroit76 said well. I feel certain the "cans" you are referring to are Al(aluminum) and are nonferrous which is why they are weighed on the small scale.

    If its a yard that cares for their customers the person who runs the scale should take the time to educate you or at least answer your questions.

    Read the old threads, learn the difference between clean and dirty metal. The more you read the more you will recognize opportunities. 73, Mike
