In thinking on DiamondN's post: LOL, that is so true (about the cans and divorce, though I can think of several reasons for "why"); in my case it was "guerrilla warfare" from the other side. I didn't want to fight ... just have some time to save some $$ and make rational plans ... instead, I ended up being "legal and financial hostage" for several years ... and having credit and finances destroyed ... making scrapping "necessary" when I was finally out of there.
I did learn (and still do) to do a lot of car repairs during that time ... pulling parts at the salvage yard to save money. "Saving" can be as good or better than making money, seems to me, at least at times. I've been really impressed at the level of (business and other) expertise I've seen on these boards ... when my previous notion of "scrapping" was old, rickety pickups overloaded with a bunch of "junk". Live and learn ... and be able to laugh at my own mistaken ideas. Hoping to laugh at that whole nightmare of legal "whatever" that was supposed to protect my interests ... the attorney who represented me made out a lot better than I did!
