    Facinating site here

I stumbled across this site and noticed the lack of sarcasm, really good info, and general knowledge of the members. I scrap as a by product of my car and truck hobby, and metal I acquire from a relative with a HVAC business. Since scrap metal is so low right now, if I need a part for a car or from a car I have been buying them, just so I can pull the part at home with power tools, rather than going to LKQ. I have been in LKQ forever trying to do something that a torch or special tool would take care of in minutes, like a rear axle with one rusted seized bolt. I have a car trailer with winch, so its no big deal.

I have been reading a lot of posts, and am particularly interested in the RAS. From what I understand, you run the vin and it tells you cores that may be valuable? Then, are they mailed to them, or do they have a listing of locations?

Who do I sell the converters starters and alternators to? I have sold them to both the scrap yard which gives me a mixed metals price, low IMO. And to a guy who comes around buying cores, but I know his price is low since he resells to someone.

    Thanks!

Welcome from New York. I deal with mainly e-scrap but I have scraped a car or ten in my days. I hope the we help you find the info you require and hope you provide someone else some insight on topics. Hopefully with as little sarcasm as possible. Good luck.

What's sarcasm :\ tons of great info on here for the at home scrapper and scrap metal entrepreneur. You just need to be literate and able to read and comprehend. I have seen numerous members elevate they're game to the next level. I might not comment that much but I still read a good amount of posts off here even if it doesn't apply to me. I have never been into e scrap or cars but I still will read the posts about it because u never know what's in the comments/thread. Never stop learning.

Out west we call this Camouflage.

To the OP. The more you read the more you will understand our Ninja ways. Welcome to SMF. As far as your questions, I am of little help. Out in the Buffalo Commons we have little choice as to who to sell to.
