    Hello Everyone. New scrapper here.

Hey Everyone, my name is Justin. I live in Virginia. I am just getting into the scrapping game. I currently have about 1,500 - 2,000 lbs of decommissioned high-end networking equipment. In the last couple of days I have started breaking down items and separating the different parts/pieces. I know I can take the steel and aluminum to the local scrap yards but there are no local places that will buy the e-scrap. I am thinking I will have around 200-300 lbs of what I would think would be high grade circuit boards once I am done with this load. Anyway, I look forward to learning and growing as an e-scrapper.

Welcome to the forum. This is going to be dry since I've written the same answer many times.

Hold on to what you have for now. Read the old and current threads(you will receive a Masters in Scrapology for the cost of you time). Read through the buyers threads, "scrap buyers and sellers" button at the top of each page.

I live on the coast of NC and ship to buyers members here on the forum.

If you follow my advice you will profit and avoid many errors along the way. 73, Mike

Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked

That's what I figured. I mainly buy used IT equipment in bulk through auctions and sell the pieces that have a market and make a decent profit. However, I do get a bunch of stuff that doesn't have very much demand so I have several 8 foot stacks of equipment that I am beginning to break down. I also post ads on craigslist for free electronic removal and have gotten a bunch of older (80s & 90s) desktop computers with those nice pinned CPU's. I will take everyone's advice and sit on the stuff I have. I wish there was a way to extract the ferrous metals at home that didn't involve using harsh chemicals.
