New Member - Salvage Yard Owner

Hello everybody, just found this site and I signed up right away. There seems to be a lot of really good information and it would be nice to be able to communicate with people who also work or are passionate about the scrap and recycling industry.

I own a salvage yard called Pacific Motors located in Detroit, MI and we have been open since 2010. We started working with anything we can get our hands on and now work with mostly exotic, sport, and luxury European cars.

I am excited to find ways to extract maximum value out of our scrap and cores, and hope that we get to meet some cool people.

    Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. I look forward to your input.

I assume you are primarily selling parts and scraping the rest of the cars? 73, Mike

We disassemble the parts off the cars and list them for sale. We then take the remaining materials off the car and scrap/dispose of them in the best ways we have found that earn/save us the most money. We are here to hopefully find new and better ways and hopefully come up with new procedures that will make us more money.

I would be happy to price any catalytic converters that you might have.

Do you have an email? We do about 50 per month of high end vehicles and I could send you my last price sheet from about a month ago.

We value giving all of our customers the most money for the TOTAL amount paid. We are not an "empty" high price con artist.

    Hey PacificMotors
Do you have a web sight? I know a guy that buys salvaged cars with light damage and flips them. He might be interested in some parts. He is small time maybe about 6 - 12 a year.
Oh ya and welcome to the forum.

Welcome from Mesa Az. I think the Phoenix metro area is the wrecking yard capital of the country given how many yards there are. I am back to scrapping out cars. I am hoarding everything besides shred and aluminum. Went to a car auction last week and just about everything was priced around $105 out the door with a clear open title. Most headed to the bone yard. I did pick up for $105 a 1994 S-10 Blazer with 99K on the clock. It runs and drives and has no rust. Just needs TLC and cleaning. Everything off it will sell out here including the frame that Rat rodders love. We have no place to sell cat converters. Scammers and tweekers have killed the market and no legit yard will buy them due to all the Police regualtions.
