Hi my name is Justin and I live in AZ. I am a newbie in the scrap metal business. I have been working part time with a good friend of mine who owns a small HVAC business and seeing how much money we get scrapping air conditioners I thought wow I would love to try to find away to do this full time. Like I said I just really started getting the ball rolling on this so I have not even scrapped anything on my own yet. If anyone is out there that can give me some tips on how to start scrapping full time that would be great. I have a big truck and am willing to buy a trailer if need be. By just doing some research I have come to the conclusion I need to pick up the phone and start calling any businesses that deal with scrap metal. It just seems to me that businesses would already have people set up with them doing what I would like to do. Maybe I am wrong. I will get on the phone tomorrow and let you all know how it goes. Please if anyone can help me out or give some tips on how to make this a successful business feel free to contact me at justinros1@live.com
Hey Justin, I too am a newbie scrapper. Can you give us an update on how your calls went? Did you talk to anyone that sounded interested?
Hey introducing myself, Kev, here. With scrapping taking such a hold with the public as of late, I believe that concentrating on the "green"ness of recycling by contacting manufacturing facilities that pay to have scrap hauled off would work out well. Rehabbers' are who I make my money off of. They don't want to mess with the labor of the haul off. Since I have a real job and I only do this on the weekends it works out well. BUT I don't strip it out, they do, cause I don't want to be liable for stepping into the place in case something is damaged!
