    Help For An E-Recycling New

    Hello Everyone,

I am starting up an e-recycling business in central/southern Illinois. I would like to know if the general consensus is that selling scrap on e-bay is better than trying to find a specific business to sell to. I've a bit wary for selling to businesses online because some of them are affiliated with the whole cashforgold thing and I want to make sure I get the most money I can per pound. Thank you all in advance for reading.

EBay can be good sometimes. EBay has fees and there is the problem of shipping costs.

Welcome. Ebay , IMO, is a P.I.T.A. My experience tells me that you would need large inventory and space to hold it for a long time. Patience is key. You need to factor in shipping too. From what I hear, Selling on Ebay is an art. Some people do well, some people don't.

As for selling to online companies : DON'T assume just because a company's name starts like, "Cash for ____" , that they are affiliated with cashforgold . Look through the buyers section and read the reviews. You will be presently surprised on how reputable the buyers are in this community forum.

Read the old threads. Learn about the product and methods you are interested in. Good luck in your adventure.

We have buyers who are members on the forum. Read through the buyer/sellers forum. You will notice that there are reviews for them by those who have used them. Also the many of the buyers have web sites they can be contacted through.

My advise is to hold on to what you have for now. Read the old threads while keeping up on the current ones. Once you have learned what you feel you need to know then decide who you should sell to.

While you are doing this studying remember you will be exposed to other aspects of the recycling business and may find other directions for your business.

Welcome to the forum. You will likely be able to get more on Ebay for scrap but it is very time consuming. Definitely use it for better than scrap items because that makes a huge difference for your bottom line. To be successful right now in ewaste you will need to be able to process a ton of material. That is where ebay will become a hindrance. Best of luck. Your greatest investment of time starting out will be to spend a few days here and just read, read, read.
