- A idea what kwikset locks are made of?

I am new, I change locks on foreclosed homes, I have collecting the deadbolts, hand locks, I collect a lot of weight all month, any thoughts on what they are made of? A few more questions, I come across mall engines, weed trimmers, small dead engines small mowers, stoves, freezers, is this worth trying to make a few bucks scraping?

The Kwikset locks are worthless. Some of the industrial locks like Best and Corbin will be solid brass.

Most of the Kwikset locks are a thin brass layer over zinc die cast. The knobs themselves are usually thin brass.
If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....
If you get volume, you can make a little money. They go as dirty brass at the yard I sell to. It's really not worth the effort to tear them apart in my opinion.
