What grade is matress coil springs? HELP!

Hello everyone! I am new to the forum. Our company name is Customized Recycling Programs and we started out as a Post Industrial Plastic Recycler. We are now moving into the metal industry due to a very large customer we closed a national deal with!

What is the name of the metal on the Metal Market Pricing Sheets for baled Mattress Coil Springs?

I would call it "shred" or "shred feed".

back in the day I believe there was a specific spring steel grade for mattress springs but now its just tin/shred at my yard.

If you review the ISRI specs, RLS may actually be correct. I may lean more towards # 3 bundles due to potential contaimination. Note that these specs require a minimum density of 75 PCF. I will add, that unless you are selling direct to a mill, I highly doubt that anyone (yard) will buy at this spec. That is unless you are talking significant volume (hundreds of tons) every month. You are most likely to get a "shred" price from a yard. They may give you a small premium for it being baled.

The only one I did was from my own bed, one yard did not want them at all so I found another... I would love to see these things get baled or bundled up they are rather large so how do you compact them?

Don't be upset you've never scrapped a bed SP.

Their all over the place on my sandbar before an after the tourist season. I leave'm for the trash companies or someone who wants to do deal with them. Pain in the ass to get stripped an you run the risk of bed bugs. Bed bugs have to be one of the worse things we come across as far as I'[m concerned. Roaches? Kill'm an move on. Other bugs? Same. Bed bugs..tiny an the little buggers can infect without you even seeing them.

I'd rather deal with roaches, ants, spiders etc. Vs Bed bugs or hell even fleas. Fleas are another one that can be an unseen pest an turn into more then anyone wants to deal with.

Good luck to you folks who do mess with beds an the springs. For me...it's not worth the hassle.

I'll take a 18 wheeler of tube tvs over freaking mattress springs. Bleh.
