    New guy from Washington State

Hello, while looking for places to find and buy scrap lead I found SMF. I'm a part timer, and have enjoyed the treasure hunt of scrapping in the past. I teach shooting and reloading and have been looking for a ton or more of lead- kind of strange that I hadn't heard of you guys before.
I've been collecting copper for years- some for my wife's jewelry projects, more for eventual scrapping.
The idea of making a living by scrapping metals has some appeal, and I am in between careers right now.

I've already learned a lot by browsing here as a guest. Thanks for the information gents!

If lead is what you want, I have the answer. Go to your local landfill, talk to the manager ask him if he would give you all the batteries people throw away. That's what I did. You see landfills cannot accept batteries and when they do see them they have to take them out of the waste stream and dispose of them at another facility. I have a pallet at the 2 by me and pick them up weekly ussually 10 to 15 at each site. Plus you can check places that sell used tires cheap they ussually have a bucket of used wheel weights they will let you have to get rid of them. But check the newer ones may not be lead. I make fishing weights, I am in Louisiana, the spotsmans paradise. Lol. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum Mike it looks like RammerJammer just picked up a ton of lead
    https://www.scrapmetalforum.com/day-...-ton-lead.html
Out here I would check with some shipyards or boatyards there might be some lead in old keels or what they call sacrificial anodes used to be lead.
