    Introduction

Hey all, I am a backyard refiner and scrapper located in Billings Montana. I mainly deal with aluminum and copper scrap, but supplement shred steel in as well. I also do gold scrapping and recovery from electronics and will soon have my full refinery set-up complete. I am also in the process of setting up an electrolytic refining cell for refining #2 copper as well as gold plating. Anyhow, thanks for letting me join. I look forward to learning more on various scrapping techniques and overall safety precautions.

Welcome to SMF from the Buffalo Commons. I started scrapping in Sheridan, Wy. just south of you and would haul loads to Billings. I am not familiar with your type of scrapping, but I assume there are old threads that highlight different techniques. Good luck to you.

Welcome to the forum. We really don't get into discussions on this forum about refining PM's, there is a forum for that with very knowledgeable people from what I have heard, and they take their refining very serious. Here we seem to stick to the basics of find, sort, sell, start over. Any of that information you may have to share would be wonderful.

    Happy scrapping.

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

Welcome, from your friendly neighbors to the South! I actually know a fair bit about the Billings market. It's pretty close to us.

I don't get into refining, but my best tip: Sometimes the best thing you can do is not to tear something down. In E-Waste, you'd be amazed how many parts can be sold as working assemblies. Before you scrap anything, check to see if it's one of those items. We've all scrapped things that we shouldn't have
