    Scrapper on Long Island

Hello everyone, long time reader and first time poster here. I've been scrapping part time for a few years as it is a natural sideline to my contracting business. Laying the groundwork to go full time and possibly open a clean green ewaste recycling center near me on the north shore. Tired of dealing with fussy homeowners and chasing money. I look forward to forming relationships on here and hopefully helping others and getting some help myself!! More to come

Welcome to SMF. I had to retire from the educational world to start scrapping correctly. The best part of this lifestyle is your control of social interaction. This site has a lot of information if you search the old threads. Good luck to you.

Thank you and if I'm being honest some of your threads inspired me to register. I have been reaping knowledge without giving back and that isn't right. This is an interesting and extremely knowledge based career and I am willing to share what I have learned in exchange for what I have been taught. The difference between someone who knows all the ins and outs and classifications and how to separate and sell for maximum profit and those who don't are vast and we should all be thankful for those who know more than we do and are willing to share what would amount propriety knowledge. Anyone who thinks they are done learning is clearly an idiot

Thank you. To be honest in my early years I spent most of my time listening and very seldom shared my perspective because I was selfish. At this age the desire to express an opinion is over whelming. Wishing you the best of luck.

Welcome to the forum. I almost thought I was reading my intro. After years of being an contractor, I to wanted to stop chasing around for payments and wanted to be done with customers that don't know what they want and still not happy after you are done giving them what you interpret as "what they think they want" so starts the e-waste business. I just got tired of being cheap and still not getting the full payments as deserved.

You have been given some great advise already but I will repeat, read, read, and read. When your done, start over, you never know what you might have missed.

    Welcome once again.
