Replacing my furnace and figuring out what the old one is worth

Instead of just throwing it in the landfill, I figured I might be able to make a few bucks selling my old furnace, AC coil, and compressor for scrap. Intro email said I needed to introduce myself so here I am.

So what do you guys think I can get for it. Also I think I'm going to keep my eye open for any abandoned metal on the side of the road.

The value of your old furnace is directly related to the education, entertainment and knowledge you can achieve from it. When I first started to scrap full time I would break everything down to find out how it worked and to learn about non ferrous metals. To be honest, a central air conditioning unit is more valuable in all three categories. Now I haul in furnaces whole and save the central air systems for a raining day.

As far as value, my type of scrapping is in tons and I cannot answer the question. I can tell you between two heating and cooling companies, a body shop, and an equipment dealer during the winter every two months I can pay expenses and a nice steak dinner for my wife. Not much money there.
Give back more to this world than we take.

Depending on how and why it failed, some of the parts may have resale value. Search the part numbers on Ebay.
