Young Scrapper

Hello SMF,

I'm a 20 year-old Michigan native who recently got into the scrapping business, mostly out of a desire to keep trash out of our landfills (and streams, lakes, forests, etc.) and because it really just is a load of fun to work with your hands. A buddy and I started a small recycling company in town this summer and we've landed 5 commercial clients who regularly have us pick up metal, along with completing a dozen or so residential jobs. I'm heading back to college (Univ. of Notre Dame - Go Irish!) in a few days so my partner willl be running the company back home while I try and expand to land some jobs at ND. Anyway, I've been reading SMF posts all summer and learning from so many of the members that I thought, what the heck, it's about time I officially join the community. I'm happy to be here and I hope I can help out future scrappers the same way that others on the site have helped me!

Welcome to the forum! Glad to see another young gun here. I'm a 19 year Montana boy who's been doing the same thing for the summer. Congrats on those commercial pickups! I hope your success continues!
