Communication coax often has both copper center conductor and copper shield. Often the shield on this type of coax is silver in color. If you hit it with a file you will see the copper color underneath. If you have a

yeah if i get any coax i generally stick a magnet to it and if it sticks i dont have to file it=) unless you mean the shield is ali coated copper?
i usually cut the ends off and let it go as steel.
i did find copper coax once the shield was silver and the center was copper i dont come across it very often as much as i would like to=)
you know what was funny the cable company we had gotten out to put up new cable lines just put the old one in out trash bin ha funny guess they dont care good for me cause it was copper core=)
it also seems like they dont take there satalite dishes or the black boxes when people laps on the payments.
