Hey everyone, my name is Earther and I'm addicted to metal that others have thrown away.
But on a serious note I been gradually getting to the point of being a full time scrapper.
I've been at it like three months and so far in single trips in a small Nissan car I've sold over 100 pounds of aluminum siding in one trip that made me learn to find the right yard for the right scrap. They gave me .15¢ a pound for clean aluminum siding and 3/8ths sheet new aluminum. Since then I travel past four or five other yards to go to a yard that respects me and since then I have excelled.
Single trip of over 300 pounds in solar batteries.
Single trip of unknown amount of brass bed frame I got for free that was already cut up and everything. It came to $74 so must have been about 74 pounds Im guessing.
Between my friend who sells grow equipment and my free score on CL I spent like four days or more working in breaking down the combined 1000 watt ballast I acquired between buying selling and working other stuff. That cast aluminum along came to like $120 then after all the copper that I busted out of every transformer I made a total of almost $400 total.
Last week I broke down some restaurant equipment for a friend to GE TV it gone. I spent too long on it, about 10 hours and got $30 in copper and then got bummed. I figured I had 150 pounds of stainless and well last I knew stainless sold for. 15¢ or less. I get to the yard unload my bounty and before heading to the office I ask the weight. 190 pounds for in my backseat. Not bad. Then I ask if it. 15¢ a pound or how bad it is. Well that. 38¢ a pound helped me get $72 mire dollars.
I'm don't rambling. I live in metal box at a storage facility and I'm going to wash my pan and strainer in the building and get my pasta Alfredo on.
I'll ask questions later. And if I'm doing anything wrong scrapping wise please school my ass on it.
