    new guy here from Colorado

Hey fellow scrappers. long time lurker, decided it was time to join Trying to avoid steel right now with the toilet level prices... but it just seems to want to follow me home, Trying to concentrate on copper & other non ferrous items, Looking at buying a wire stripper this fall as well. I'm pretty quiet, if I don't have anything useful to add to a thread, I normally will move on. I'm not into running my thread count up.

Welcome to the forum. When you do buy a wire stripper, make sure that you can justify the price. I have often wanted to upgrade from my $50 handheld, but I just don't do the volume to pay what I feel is inflated pricing for a bigger one.

This is the one I use

Welcome to the forum. Ditto what hipogear said about the wire stripper. I bought a manual stripper for $80 when I started scrapping. It doesn't work as advertised and now I rarely use it. I really don't get that much wire worth stripping. If you get a lot of wire be sure to do your research on a good wire stripper. Good luck!

I like it. It isn't the easiest, but it works for both solid and stranded. I mostly strip the solid stuff and sell the stranded as is. I usually keep the wires at about four foot or under in length. But I like it. I'm probably due for a new blade. I just took the blade off about a week ago to give it a quick sharpening and that helped for now.
