Just figured I'd pop in and introduce myself. While I'm not a scrapper by trade, I repair, reuse and resell old computer parts and equipment on a very small scale (I work out of a room in my house and a small space in our garage). Lately I've gotten into reselling scrap piles of less interesting stuff I've accumulated, so I guess I have done a little scrapping myself now.
Most of my computer recycling transactions are done through message boards, Mercari or
eBay. Lately I've started driving around north western PA and western NY to pick through piles of scrap circuit boards or PC parts. An old card that might only be worth 50 cents to a dollar in scrap may be worth a lot more to me. I've managed to find some really cool stuff, I've learned a lot repairing the old stuff I find, I've taught my daughter a few things about old computers through hands-on experience with 30 year old equipment that would normally have been turned into $10 worth of metal scrap... and I've made a few bucks along the way.
I've been lurking here off and on for a while, but now I hope to learn a bit more about the stuff that isn't worth fixing or using.
