    Cool Hello and hello

    Hi everyone,

About a year ago my wife and I were given an offer to move from the north east to Florida to work for her sister and brother-in-law, who are part owners of an electronic recycling company. We weighed our options and felt that it was a good opportunity for us, so we packed up our stuff and our cat and drove down to FL. The main office location for the company is in Miami, but we're located in the center of the state in a smaller warehouse were I work with another guy to purchase scrap electronics and my wife manages the staff and oversees the inventory and shipping in/out of our location. Things have been going okay so far, but I feel like they could be going better. A big part of that is my own knowledge and abilities, I've learned how to identify some types of boards and other electronic components, but there's always room to improve my skill set and increase my confidence in my work performance so I come to you eager to learn and get better at my job. I feel with a stronger knowledge of the products and their worth I will have an easier time approaching potential customers and building relationships with them in the never-ending quest to buy materials.

Have a great day and thanks for reading! Good luck on your scraping adventure!

Welcome to the forum. To get the best education available start reading from the beginning of the old posts and continue to the present.

If you do this you will see how the business has changed over the last few years. There are many examples of different types of boards. Read the sticky threads and the buyers/sellers threads as well. They all contain great info that will rocket you ahead in your education and ability to contribute to the bottom line. 73, Mike

    Hey miked,

I've been reading older threads and see that you're a really active and helpful poster, so I appreciate your kind words. I've spent a lot of today looking at threads for general advice and looking online for local businesses to reach out to. This job isn't easy, it's really competitive and the market seems to go up and down every other month. I'm doing my best not to get discouraged and be consistent with my dealings with current customers and my outreach for new customers. I'm hopeful that I can eventually get some in-roads with people who work with local school districts, colleges, government, and hospitals and maybe secure the company some consistent business in this part of the state. Oh well, no rest for the wicked, gotta keep trying!

    Have a great weekend!
