Hi, and Welcome to SMF from Central Indiana...Where abouts are you located?
I am about 20 miles east of Indianapolis
I went to take in my first load of copper and brass, I had no idea what to expect. I have spent several months researching the differences between #1 & #2 copper and brass, making sure that i didn't have ANY dirty copper in my #1 pile. (none at all)
It was my fault for not checking on their exact prices but from everywhere I looked on line, #1 copper was going for 2.30 - 2.45 a pound, #2 copper 2.17 a pound, and brass for 1.60 - 1.50 a pound. upon getting my receipt i got
#1 copper - I had 15 pounds @ $1.90 a pound
#2 copper - I had 13 pounds @ &1.70 a pound
Yellow Brass - I had 50 pounds @ &0.85 a pound
Omnisource has a yard in Fort Wayne, not sure how far that is from you but they have really good prices in our area.
My mother always said "Ask your father." My father always said "If it doesn't work, hit it with a hammer. If that doesn't work, hit it again."
