    Hello!

    Hello all,

I'm Asp, a complete novice scrapper trying to pay off student debt in my free time. My neighbors throw out a rather large amount of metal, so I've spent the past couple of weeks filling up my backyard with it and have been working on sorting it out since then. I know next to nothing about scrapping, but I'm sure that I can learn it. I'll be sure to go through existing tutorials and threads prior to posting anything of my own so as to not clutter up the boards.

    Have a great day all,

    ~Asp-<

Welcome viper! You'll find a post-grad level scrap education here but won't acquire any more student loans. First suggestion though is don't let the backyard fill up unless you're stockpiling something specific. Full yards tend to hold their momentum if you're not aggressive about it. Be careful or you'll wake up one morning and find yourself to be a metal junk collector!

    Duly noted, thanks!

So far, I've been breaking it all up into piles of scrap steel, stainless steel (magnetic and not magnetic separately), brass, copper 2, copper wire (all insulated), circuit boards, stuff-with-copper-in-it-I-can't-get-out (mostly motors), aluminum, unidentified metals, and stuff-I-know-should-be-valuable-but-don't-know-how-to-sort (high voltage capacitors, other tech scrap).
