Hey everyone, my name is Randy and I am from the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania. I started scrapping back in 2011/2012 when I had to clean out my dad's estate. I was young then but scrapped through my college career where I was a maintenance man for the college. This involved tons of HVAC/R work and attaining my EPA Refrigerant License. There was a steady supply of motors, coils, and compressors in working for the college, especially when they were retrofitting old units.

Most recently, which is why I joined the forum, I have come across a hoarders house. I am good friends with his son who has put his foot down to clean out the pigsty due to it not being a livable condition (tyvek suits and respirators). He hoarded everything including computers, papers, and other junk from the 1980s to now and the house is past max capacity. There has been over a month of cleaning out and it seems like it has gone nowhere. There is over 1800 sq foot of house, a basement, breezeway, a 2 car garage, 7 vehicles, and the outside stacked from floor to ceiling. It is sure a big job...

So far I have found about 400 laptops and at least 250 computer towers ranging from i486's to modern core 2 duos and pentiums. I have also been watching for more than scrap value for NOS items and older IBM keyboards.

Thanks so far to all of the research I have been able to do on the forum and I look forward to sharing and learning with everyone else.

Welcome aboard. Sounds like you'll have your hands full with that house for quite some time. Boy, just think of the fun one could have playing hide-and-seek in that old house, huh?! Best of luck with that!

I would be more concerned having junk fall on me and kill me.

The house is a cape cod from 1965. In fact, the 2x8 beams are cracked due to a leaking roof at one time combined sheer weight of all of the items. Tons of old office printers and towers. Eventually, the house will be going for sale and might be a good opportunity.

So far I found a sealed IBM model M, two for parts, and a decent working model. Sadly, none of them have been the space saver models thus far. I can’t wait to see what else I find.

There is also a dual axle camper trailer which is in sad shape and might make a good scrap hauling trailer with some modifications.
