Info On Scrap Yards In Georgia

Hi....I'm new to this site and I'm just looking for some info.
I live near Atlanta Georgia and I have a neighbor who works with air conditioner units and the company lets him have the old old units that don't work.
He gives me the units because he knows I do scrapping and what I'm wondering is, when I tear down each unit and have all of the aluminum from the copper tubbing left what do I need to do with all of the aluminum legally in order for any scrap yards in Georgia to accept the aluminum?
Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I doubt any scrap yards would give you any problems with some aluminum.

Do you mean your stripping the a/c rads?? If so i would just sell them whole and be done. Then you dont have to deal with that foily aluminum.

Cut the steel ends off ofcorse...

If you are going to break them down cut off the copper u's and then the steel sell as clean cu/ale raid, sell the copper loops as #2 and the steel. Or sell them as is for dirty cu/alum radiators

And sell the compressors as well, they have there own price could be listed as sealed units.

Hi and welcome to the forum! We shred 1000s and 1000s of lbs of ACRs where I work every day. I second the advice about of cutting off any steel brackets and selling them as Al-Cu radiatiors. Should you continue to scrap them down yourself, if you cut off the solder points on the copper arcs *some* yards will give you #1 Cu price for that. Most will not but if you're lucky one will. Another thing to try is seeing if any yard will give you a premium for bringing in clean 1100 series Al (the kind of aluminum alloy ACR foil is). It's not super likely but worth trying if you're providing large quantities. Your best bet for that would be a yard that shreds them like we do. Good luck and have fun!
