    Hello

New member to the forum, but I’ve been “hobby” scrapping for a few years now. I’m in central TX and I recently decided to get more serious about collecting/selling scrap just before the market goes into the trash, so now my wife and my immediate family (mom, dad, sister) are all on my ass about this being a stupid idea and blah blah blah. But I know there’s still money to be made even with the crap prices, and I don’t like being wrong either. So I’m here hoping to learn some new methods, tips, and tricks and hopefully make a few new contacts that can point me in the right direction and help me prove the nay-sayers wrong! Thanks to all who take the time to read this and thanks for allowing me to be a member of a forum with as much knowledge and expertise as this one!!
Hope y’all have a good one.

Welcome to the forum from Las Vegas! If you wanna prove them wrong make generous use of the search function to read and browse old threads. There's a graduate level education in scrap to be had that will help maximize your efficiency and returns as well as help source consistent material. Have fun!

Welcome, there is still money to be made. How much depends on your situation, hours you can put into, cost of travel, etc. Yesterday I went to pick up metal filing cabinets from a law firm that was moving. Ended up getting over 3000 lbs of clean light iron from those and the metal desks. Took me about 4 hours to load, travel, and drop off at the scrap yard. Got about $90 for it, and the owner gave me a check for $75 for my trouble. Not a bad day, but I don't expect that everyday of course

You never know what you can find.
