    Hello Everybody

    Hi guys

I’m an Irish plumber/gas/heating engineer living in London, UK. I’m well used to cashing in my scrap which I consider a perk of my job ie. the brass and the copper.
I’m looking at getting into something new as a kind of a hobby- scrap pcbs- printed circuit boards & extracting what’s good out of them ie. the gold - but anything else on them that’s worth money. I’d just like some help, initially identifying the different components & what they are made of.
Thanks in advance, anyone who can help - apologies if I’m slow replying as always busy 👍

Welcome to SMF and a massive library of ewaste techniques. I hope someone will point you to some of the better threads on identification or if you use the advanced search bar in the upper right hand corner, please share the threads. Good luck and a word of warning, this can become addictive.

Welcome to the forum. Extracting(refining) gold, silver etc is not what is discussed on this forum. The is another forum which specializes in this, Gold Refining Forum, which I highly recommend for this information. If you go there please do yourself a big favor and read the required section first and then read more before asking questions, it's just how that forum works.

To educate yourself here go to section for electronics and start reading threads. At the bottom of each thread are recommended similar threads.

For additional education on identifying electronics go to the scrap buyers/sellers section(there is a button at the top of each page of the forum). Several of the buyers threads have photos of scrap.

    Here's a great one: https://www.scrapmetalforum.com/e-wa...ification.html

Lastly work on finding companies that will buy your ewaste and don't go down the refining route. 73, Mike

Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked
