    Hello from northern (ish) Ontario

Hi folks, wasted far too many hours lurking, finally decided to sign up!
Scrap is a side hobby of mine, slowly collecting aluminum, copper and brass for my kiln I'm building.

I bring tin (think you folks refer to it as "shred"?) right away to the scrap yard only a half mile from my place, if that. Makes it easy to pick up dumped washers, etc.

Welcome to the forum. Use the old threads as a guide but keep in mind prices have changed over the years and may make a big difference in how you operate. We have threads that include most every type of scraping including very big operations to folks who mostly make art out of scrap. 73, Mike

Exactly the same place, and eventually the same purpose (casting ingots!) I already have my fifty gallon drum cut, buying a burner very shortly, and all the other stuff.

Oh, and a hundred pounder propane tank.

I was going to buy a Devil Forge, then realized I could build a better one twice as large for roughly the same cash price.

Tell you what : I have some 2 " refractory left up on Kijiji right meow, and I've made a burner and furnace assembly for MUCH less than a Devil Forge setup. Take a quick look see and toss me a PM if you want, can see if we might be able to get you going as cheap as possible. Old propane take or a small water tank is perfect to start piddling around and figuring out what you do and don't want in a furnace.

You tend to go to BM Metals or AGI on Kelly lake for your scrap?

I go to AIM in hanmer. Literally less than half a mile from home.

I might take you up on that offer. My fifty gallon drum is already cut, but a tad big. Lol
