    Intro From Western NY

I have been a long time lurker, and finally lured out of lurk mode. Tinkering with scrap has been a hobby of mine for quite a while. I am a mechanical engineer/project manager for the 9-5. Ewaste is interesting, and I’ve enjoyed (and learned a lot) reading many posts here over the years.

Taking things apart to see how they work, and fail, has positively impacted my engineering work. Lately, my young son has been getting more involved in smashing things up! It is really just a hobby for us, but also a good learning deal for him. He’s learning how things work, that our time and effort equals money from the yard, and we get to use the hatchet from time to time. The hatchet generally only comes out when mom isn’t around.......

I will try to contribute where I can. Sooo much is already here in the archives.

Welcome, I am in a similar boat as you. My 9-5 is software engineering and I do scrap stuff on the side for fun because I like recycling things (helps the earth) and taking things apart (or breaking/smashing them!)..... Since youve lurked a while, I am sure you are aware the troves of god info on here.

    Good luck!

For pics I usually upload to imgur and get the URL. Then click the image button in the post and paste in that url. Kinda cumbersome, but i don't think you can upload directly to smf .... I don't think they want to host images
