    Hello from Southern California!

Hello all! New to scrapping, glad to discover a community around the subject. Not sure but browsing around I seem to be somewhat of an oddity here, as I am salvaging metals for my own use as production material rather than selling scrap. I started about a week ago curbside shopping. So far I've been pretty happy with the results I've gotten quite a bit of aluminum, copper, and some zinc. So far it's been more economical to just buy zinc though as I can get it for $1/lb which is perfectly fine for my products.

I've been collecting circuit boards and I intend to try extracting gold and silver from them (both also important metals for my other business) so that should be interesting!

I don't know if this is just a crazy busy site now but it loads quite slowly...anyway hello there

Welcome to SMF. There are a few contacts here that would be a good resource for you. Hopefully they will chime in. There are also some old threads that might help, but you will need to use the advanced search button to access them. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum. Take a read through the old threads but please keep in mind prices change not just because of prices of base metals.

I have found that acquiring the ewaste and selling it on to bigger collectors. Take a look at our member buyers here on the forum. I have ones that I use but there are several to choose from. We even have a member who can assist with shipping although some of the buyers do that as well.

I firmly believe that processing the ewaste and recovering the base metals myself would be a major loosing effort and am better off getting more ewaste to ship. 73, Mike

ps It appears to me the owners of the forum have all but abandoned this site but I guess must still pay for the server space, I am thankful for that. M

Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked

You can use Pyrolysis then simply pan out the gold bonding wires, more on this topic on the gold refining forum which is also free to join.

    Pyrolysis search gold refining forum.

Download, Hokes Refining Precious Metals Wastes.

Wow thank you for the link! I literally had a paperback of that book in my shopping cart. It's like a college textbook in price I've been putting it off. Saved me a big hunk of cash thanks!

I'll check out that forum as well. Still working on accumulating before I do a harvest.
