Hey all, My name is Chuck and I am a 31 year old scrapper from Morgantown, Wv. I have always liked the idea of making money, and or reusing things other people consider trash. I have recently started dipping my hands into e-waste, and precious metal recovery and hope to learn anything I can as I move forward with the project. Welcome to the forum. I recommend you don't get into the recovery part of PM due to the potential danger involved. I'm not saying you don't have what it takes to do it but I feel compelled to warn you to educate yourself before getting started.
For me I've found it better to spend my time locating more material to process and sell to great buyers. So spend more time reading the old threads for the very best education you can ask for. I've been a member here for several years and have learned by doing what I have recommended you. 73, Mike

Hey Mike, I noticed that last night while reading the thread, and the actual recovery process is something I have yet to try anyways. I wish to learn as much as possible before fiddiling with chemicals I know nothing about. I just collect circuit boards off of peoples unwanted items, and save up material incase one day I feel comfortable enough to do the recovery. Thats why I have come, to learn what I can, and maybe find ways to increase my volume of material.

There may be 1 or 2 members here who have tried it and may weigh in, but for most, especially those who have never refined before or dont have a background with chemicals/refining who would just be "fiddling" around with them, its a better bet to just sell them as is. you can definetly make money just selling the boards, tons of people on here do, and there are tons of buyers and sellers on here of circuit boards.... just not many refiners.

I understand fully, and as I mentioned this is a hobby for me and not a means for making money. I am not one of these people who watched a youtube video and think I'll get rich by recovering gold from a tv. I have done a few years of research, and a few years of material gathering and have yet to try to recover anything. I just save material in hopes new methods come along in the future, or with enough reading one day I feel comfortable doing the recovery myself. I'm here to learn more about metals, where to find them, and anything that can help me along the way. Don't worry, I have read this forums stance on gold recovery and refining, and understand the difference between the general scrapper and what I'm doing. Nice to meet you and thanks for the welcome.
Yes go over to the goldrefining form. They are a very technical group and you should read all the new person treads first and take them seriously. Mike

I do have an account over there, and have done a ton of research on the topic of gold and it's recovery there. However, I have more interests then just gold and silver, and often find myself with heaps of other stuff. I'm here to learn from you all, just as I am over there to learn from them. Recently on a job, we found a propane furnace that I got to keep. It's fairly new and in great working condition. Now I need to learn about other metals other then PM's, so I can melt some stuff down while feeling comfortable, and create some new cool stuff out of what most consider trash.
