Welcome aboard. You found the best place to start. Just start reading and searching and you will find lots of answers. Ask questions when you need to.
Experienced Scrapper
A good start would be with friends and family. Almost everybody has old cell phones/computer stuff/electronics stashed away. Anyone you know recently/currently doing renovation work?.... good source of plumbing/wiring scrap. Anybody in your circle have a non-running car/truck? There are lots of possibilities - just have to keep an open mind and a willingness to put yourself out there asking.
