    Hey I'm new here

I stumbled upon the electronics scrap world because I was cleaning out a rental property where the man had passed but he was refining paladiumin his basement from old radio components. I didn't at first know what I was throwing away but I lost a lot of good items but now that I'm hooked from seeing his workshop and research ing what he was doing and the potential for a new income source. Possibly a shift from construction to another form of finance. I am confused about the value in certain capacitors I see a lot of aluminum ones and I have the impression that some aluminum electrolytic ones contain tantilum or paladiumin or nobium how do I learn what metals or electrolytes are used in what capacitors and what capacitors are worth the work and I am looking to refine all my metals to they're base separate metals and sell them as ingots or pure weights. Lest I get a good price for depopulated boards

    Don't quit your day job.

Now ... use your noodle here. Did you ever stop to consider that exposure to the chemicals that he was working with might have contributed to his death ? Even depopulating the boards can put you at risk of heavy metals poisoning.

Every person you run across can teach you something if you pay attention.

Some folks can show you what to do.

Some folks can teach you what not to do.

In the end ... it's up to you to discern one from the other.

I probably sound like the forum grouch but i'm just trying to save you from wasting your time and maybe your health. " Gold Fever " is pretty common among the newbies. The precious metals are there, but only in minute quantities. The circuit boards have to be processed by the ton, in an industrial setting, in order for it to be commercially viable. It's the economy of scale.

If you dig through the archives here .... you should be able to figure it all out for yourself.

Another source for research is the gold refining forum. Lot's of good info.
