Looking for alternator and starters

I am new on this forum. I am looking to purchase container load of alternator and starters. I would appreciate any help I can get from existing members.

Hi and welcome to the forum from Las Vegas in the US! Containers of just starters and alternators are a big ask outside of the very largest auto salvage companies or major core specialists (the former usually selling to the latter). I aggressively seek them out here and it still usually takes me a month to fill a just gaylord with either. The biggest yard here in the Valley does over a container of electric motors every week and only maybe one in three of those will have a box of alternators or starters tacked onto it. But you can always post pricing and see what happens!

I have reached out to few core specialists and they have container loads available but each one of them asked me to make a bid/offer, no one has quoted any prices yet. I am confused what price to offer. I have customers overseas willing to purchase at $0.50 per pound.

.50 per pound FOB. The buyer pays shipping.

That price is too low to compete. Might be low even for standard electric motors. If I can sell single gaylords locally -to a non-processor who then packages them for export- for more than your customer's price for full containers then it's gonna be hard to source at that price. Where copper is now that price is about .20 too low for alternators and .12 low for starters for export.

I made a wrong guess above. A competative price where the seller pays freight to the port and buyer pays sea freight for alternators starts at .60-.64 currently and for starters .51-55. That is just where one company is filling orders at for a sale made when copper was recently lower. With copper creeping back up new alternator export sales may be closer to .70 and starters closer to .60.

My estimate was .60 for 50% alternator and 50% starter and based on your message it is .65 if we are buying 50% each item. I appreciate your help, if you know any supplier who can ship container load, please let know

.60 might well get it done for a mixed package. Should at least get you in the door for conversations. Feel free to share your results! I don't operate at that scale but myself and others here are always happy to hear how folks do scrap at any scale and live vicariously lol
