Newbie

I stumbled into collecting e-waste and scrap metal because one of my kids enjoys disassembling things. Everything I have learned has been from YouTube and reddit so far. I am 43 and have stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer, so I am doing this to have something to do and keep what's left of my time open to my kids.

My biggest challenge is determining what is worth breaking down to the smallest parts and what isn't. I also wonder when it would be best to sell stuff to another scrapper, since they probably can make more off the item than I would be able to.

My most recent finds are (2) commercial ice freezers, a commercial copier/printer (huge machine), and some very very old farm equipment. I was also gifted a receiver and speaker set.

Check fleabay for the following, vintage audio stereo amps etc, from the printer I would expect you'll find the motors inside are steppers - hobby type folks repurpose them to make cnc ( computer numerical controlled ), to make small engraving / router tables, 3D printers that use plastic filament.

The receiver not enough information, Old multi band radios with shortwave or not have collector value - fleabay.
Ham radio is still a popular hobby.

Old farm equipment - if it's horse drawn check with your local Amish community, name brand stuff painted back to factory colors - people grab that stuff up for lawn ornaments.

As for the ice freezer it'll most likely still have freon in it, if the previous owner did not have a refrigeration technician or someone certified to legally remove the freon that freezer is more of a liability than an asset.

You'll more than likely find a buyer for your e-waste on the goldrefiningforum a lot of the members are always looking for stuff to refine for the gold, silver and palladium.

It seems the scrapping gods have either smiled upon me or are blessing me with a cruel joke. I have a fairly new stainless stainless steel refrigerator that refrigerator that is devoid of free on that I have to figure out how best to scrap, I also have a washer and dryer, and a dishwasher. I was also gifted 13 flat screen monitors and 13 CPU's

I do happen to have a good friend who is an H back Tech, so he'll be able to recover the free on for me at Little To no charge.

I have to go through and check on this old farm equipment most of it has been sitting outside for a while but I am fascinated by old stuff like that. I reckon taking pictures of this stuff and attaching them might help

Thank you all for responding to me.I feel like I'm really in over my head and no matter how much I read or how many videos I watch I still feel like I know absolutely nothing.All I do know is I'm really good at disassembling things and really good about doing it in an organized manner. So, I guess I have that going for me.

I did assemble the piano and I was very disappointed to find out most things were either bronze plated or copper plated.The only thing that was really about you, was the cast iron heart in a few of the Brass knobs, wheels, foot pedals.Took about 6 hours to disassemble it properly and I feel like such a clown.
