    Heya peoples

Hi, my names Gil. I'm not really a scrapper so much as a reseller, but have been recently been getting more into scrapping to supplement my income. I'm doing the easy stuff, like copper/brass and insulated wire and trying to get into more things to scrap because at the prices I pay I'm sure there is money to be made, I just have to figure out where.

Thanks in advance for all the help I am sure to get from all of you in the future.

I think we all resell valuable stuff I know I do. If its junk it gets scrapped

I'm into the resell thing myself. Had a buyer come down out of Washington today to buy a SS food warmer for $300.

I paid 27 bucks at an auction.

Auctions used to be good around here too, but the last couple years a lot more people got in on that game, so it's hard to make money relying on them. Most of my stuff I buy by the pound, but some things come from garage sales and various thrift stores as well.

I'm focusing more on high turnover items right now, like small appliances, pots and pans, stuff like that. It's easier to make money that way when so many people are low on cash. Bigger items are getting harder to sell and I have to let them go at lower prices than I would have had to in the past.

That's one of the main reasons I'm getting more into scrapping, it's high turnover and a high margin, without much risk. Over the past month or so I've been able to get ~50 lbs of insulated copper and ~20 lbs of random brass junk each week for $0.53/lb. Testing some other things this week that are more effort, but look to be a lot more profitable. I'm really only trying to get a couple hundred a week from scrapping so a slow week of sales won't be so damaging as it could be. Who knows, maybe I'll get more and more scrapper and less salesman as the months go by xD

I understand. If something doesn't sell within a month or two it usually gets scrapped.
